Asbestos Poster

Date: 1939 | Reference: D/EX1800/2

Bell’s Asbestos and Engineering Limited was established in the 1870s and moved its offices to the Slough Trading Estate in 1929.

It produced a large range of industrial products using asbestos, and these were shipped across the world. It continued trading until the 1970s.

This advert was published in the mid-20th century and is a representation of the types of products they produced.

'It’s almost surreal seeing advertisements portraying asbestos in such a positive manner considering what we now know about its effects. A lot of the adverts from this collection are unusual to look at from a modern perspective and I find it fascinating.'
